Shekhawati Institute of Engineering & Technology, Sikar is established and governed by a registered educational society/trust (GSS), functioning under the relevant provisions of state laws applicable to educational institutions. The institute operates as a self-financed technical institution, following the regulations and statutory requirements prescribed by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and other regulatory authorities.

The Memorandum of Association (MoA) and institutional statutes define the objectives, governance structure, and operational framework of the institute, including the roles of the Governing Body, Academic Council, Board of Studies, Finance Committee, and other statutory bodies responsible for academic and administrative decision-making.
