Shekhawati Institute of Engineering & Technology, Sikar operates as an affiliated engineering college under Bikaner Technical University (BTU), Bikaner, Rajasthan.

The institute has recently been granted Autonomous Status by the University Grants Commission (UGC), with notification issued through the affiliating university. Under autonomy, SIET has the academic flexibility to design its curriculum, evaluation systems, and innovative learning frameworks while continuing to award degrees under the affiliating university.

The institute currently does not operate any off-campus centres, offshore campuses, or learning support centres under ODL mode.
